I posted this under "sky rocks" at first, but I really don't know what it is, so I think this is a better place for it. My husband found this while digging a hole for a goal post. It was about 3 ft down. It's very heavy. I'd say around 40 lbs. I may be off, as far as weight, but I cannot lift it, so I figure it's 40 - 50. I measured the circumference with a string, and it's about 29 inches. Also, it attracted a magnet (that I attached to a string). Attachments:

Another photo. It's hard to see in the photos, but this rock looks like it has smooth dimples, like its been sculpted like clay. Attachments:

That would be one huge meteorite, but it looks too light in color? Interesting shape. Might have some magnetite in the mix that is attracting the magnet. Only way I know to tell for sure is cut or grind a window in it so you can get a glimpse of the internal structure.

Thanks arappaho. Yes, it would be a large one. I know it is not likely. I read somewhere that I could sand it. I tried sanding it, and it didn't really do much at all. What should I use ?
I actually found another that is smaller and darker. This one was about 40 ft from the other. I know this makes it even more likely that it is not one......

This is just a simple stone, no special place.

I broke the other one that I found open, and it is black on the inside. The outside of it is similar to this one but a little darker. So, brownish coating with black inside. I will post a photo of it soon, as I am still curious about it.

looks like a mafic igneous rock. specific identification would need identification of the various minerals in the rock.
