:)I live in Maryland and am new to rockhounding. There is quartz all over the area with what I think is pyrite and sulfides in the cracks. Thought it was gold because there is a vague history of gold abouut a mile north of me. I started collecting samples from all over the area and am now hooked on collecting rocks, even got my 2 golden retrievers digging up rocks. I will try to post some pictures of some of the sample for ID help. I'm going out to California, Lake Tahoe with family and wondering if any one knows of any good places to rockhound.

When you get there....check for rock shops in the area...there are lots of good rocks around that area...If you get a chance go for a boat ride on Tahoe.....Lived in California thirty years...

I will be asking at local rock shops and continuing my Internet research on the geology of the Tahoe basin. I am also joining my local rockhound group here in Maryland. Thank you
