New announcement for The GEMS Club!
Field Trip: April 21st Cunningham Beryl & Amethyst & Smoky Dig
We will have a large machine, the biggest to ever be at this site, a 50,000lb excavator! Will have dump piles and veins of both the amethyst and the beryl areas. Also for a bonus, you will have access of both this location and the Diamond Hill Mine which is only about 7 miles away. $30 is the cost for adults.

I'm really looking forward to checking out the next dig now that I have some free time on my hands. ;D Hope it's a dig where I can join on the spot cause I like meeting the people involved when I join up with a group. Feels a lot more personal.  I wish I could have joined and made this one cause I'd love to go out and find some amethyst. |

The dig was fun. Found some nice emeralds and aquas in the native vein. Better still, I have a new friend, Amos. He is the happiest man I have ever met. What a rush!

It was a killer dig. Never once has it been available at just about any dig at any location where more than..what 20-25 different people all got to work and dig the actual pegmatite and actually found stuff while doing so. Amethyst was also found many feet down in a vein which many folks got to dig as well. I personally have never seen anything like it with the pegmatite with the emeralds/aqua being so open and exposed that everyone on the dig got to dig directly into it. It was awesome!

Sorry I missed the amy split but went back to DH and ran into a family who's son was trying to find crystals..showed him what to look for and gave him a few and he started to find them all over the place. told them about the Amos C. dig in Due West and about the gemclub...we may have new members....and they were from Due West
