I have a suggestion for those that ask help for mineral identification. I know that most of you might not want to give up your location, but a basic location might help for mineral identification by looking at the geology of the area and the known minerals for the area.
They're a little under 3000 known minerals. Not all of them form crystals, some form coatings, and others are massive; or a composite of minerals which form that beautiful rock you want to slice and cab. Lots of these minerals look the same, but are not found in the same location.
Lots of geology been done on areas, and lots of sources are available. I enjoy looking at the pics and looking at available resources for the areas - and come up with a possible answer for the identification.
Now after this winded opinion if you still do not want to post the location, or do not know the location - please continue posting, and we will still continue trying to help.
It always surprise me when someone come up with a identification on some of these post that I have no clue. And, I have to say that have to be it.

Thank you Ed. I too wish those posting would give a general area, or part of a state when asking what is?
