If you can identify this rock that would be AWESOME! I found it about a year or two ago, when I was in 4th or 5th grade, I was wondering what this is? Location: Texas, in "Vulcan" (Company). -- Characteristics Color: Yellowish Tint, with moderate white spots. Texture: Roughish/smoothish. Size: About a half of inch of height and width. -- That's about all, thanks! Attachments:

It would help to know what town the vulcan quarry is in. This info would help to know what type of material is being brought out of the quarry.

Vulcan Materials in San Antonio is a active limestone quarry. It's hard to tell from you Pic, but I believe it would be Calcite. To test this place a little white vinegar in a bowl just enough to touch the specimen. Set the specimen in the. When the calcite come into contact with the vinegar it will start to bubble. Let it stay in it for about 30 min. When you take it out some of the speciman should of disolved. Bexar county does not have much in minerals. It does have pyrite, limonite, In the pass I found some grayish color chert/jasper that took a polish. Please remember to stay out of active quarries. The few specimens you find is not worth it if an accident occur. Following is the link for the government Stay out Stay Alive Program, www.msha.gov/sosa/sosahome.asp
