The spot that just keeps on giving! Thanks for all the great pics, AG! I love the coatings, the skeletals, and the artichoke type growths. And a twenty pounder ain't bad once in a while either! Keep on Digging! Joe

Yea, but it's nuthin' compared to your anatase included gemmy crystals. I seen those suckers. You are also dubbed the "surgeon" for your precise crystal extractrion

Looks like fun! Where is this place? Very cool crystals too. What is the black coating?

The black is manganese-oxide coating. It comes off easily but I like to leave it on the crystals that have a uniform coating This is right outside of Atlanta

Jason - not sure if you have cleaned much of them or not - appears they all have sort of odd white coating, in one broken piece it appeared clearer on the inside. If you clean them with sulfuric acid make sure they soak a long time in water - it turns the white coating yellow.

Barrett: Those are really neat crystals and clusters that vein looks very similar to what I'm currently digging in except I'm not finding any crystal shapes yet. It appears this vein is at the surface and mostly lies horizonitally is this correct ?

The vein is on the surface since they removed 30 feet of hillside. It's vertical and goes straight down.

Thanks Barrett: The vein I'm in is in a bank and runs almost vertical I'm currently about 8 ft below surface, this was exposed I didn't dig 8 ft, and have been mostly digging up towards the surface, maybe I should be digging down instead and there is also the possibility that there aren't any crystals in it. I also don't know how thick into the bank it is, am at the point I'm concerned about a cave-in.
