old news to you guys I'm sure-new and wonderful stuff to me. Nancy told me about it at Diamond Hill a few weeks ago and she sure loves it.
I've done my research a bit-do you guys ever go down to Girard GA to pick any up? I've got the directions and such-want to take my kids down there one day if I can talk them into it. Sounds like great fun and the best of all worlds in that you can find some pretty stuff, and have a better than average chance at finding fossils AND artifacts, right?
I'm blessed to live right in the middle of all this cool stuff and I need to be enjoying it!

thanks Steve, I thought I had looked back at all the field trips but had missed that one.
WOW that sounds like fun. Any chance of a repeat on that particular location? I'd love to lay into some of that stuff! The private plantation sounds a lot better than collecting on the roadside too.
I'd be willing to help put it together...

It was a great trip, and I would certainly go back again. The agate is very plentiful, and pickings are easy. Both Jim Potterf and Joe (last name?) had lots of interesting information about Indian artifacts. The metal detector part was a little hit and miss. The man who owns the place (can't remember his name) took us to some different places on the property that he thought would be good. But the experienced metal and artifact collectors in our group felt that the sites he took us to were fairly recent. It does seem that the best things found with metal detectors were in the dirt road or parking area. Go figure! Andrea

How does this stuff look when polished? Any pics of cabs, slabs or tumbled stones would be highly appreciated.

Beautiful cabs Jim and Ken! Great job!
Mark, I don't know what to tell you about another possible MAGMA fieldtrip to this site, but don't let that stop you from going on down and checking it out yourself. It's easy to find and the rock is all along the side of the road.

We have been collecting Savahannah river agate. And finding some great pieces. I have a lot of pictures but I am new to this platform and I need to figure out how to load them. We have found Alot! of arrow heads, spear points, Druzy quartz and a lot more.
