I've been playing around with my rocks again. The left cab is a combination of malachite and sodalite, the center is an agate with a vug, and the last is a slice of a thunderegg. It's time for me to start putting together my gifts for the holidays now.

Yeah, the Malachite/Sodalite is awesome!
Silly question coming up. They don't grow like that naturally do they? What did you use to cement the two together?

IronTom, No, they don't form like that. I cut two pieces that would make the size cab that I wanted and then ground two sides flat on a 100 grit lap. I glued these two sides together with epoxy and allowed to set for a day. I did dop the stone but heated it as little as possible to get the wax to hold and then ground and polished as normal. My daughter had seen some stones like this and asked me to make one for her.

Well Mickey, I guess that middle one'd be alright with me!

Mickey, where heat for the dopstick is problematic, jbweld 4 minute works good: just a tiny dab slightly larger than your dop end is all it takes to hold a stone.

Hey Mark, Glad that you like the middle cab. I put it in a real funky finding for my daughter. She'll love it. Rockshine, Thanks for the tip with the jbweld 4 min. stuff. How would you get it to release afterwards?

Mickey, since the dab of jbweld is so small, usually a sharp knife will slice it right off.Ususally it will cut like firm plastic. Just experiment on some less desirable rocks: you may find that you wish to mix with a little less hardener for some of the more fragile stones, or sometimes If I have a crumbly matrix, I use the jbweld as a dark colored solid backing, doping it on thick, then cutting it off, leaving a 1/4 inch or so as foundation material to keep the cab from splitting.

Mickey....Nice work on your cabs.......the center one is gorgeous....Ahhhh nice they are going to your daughter!
Any epoxy is fine for dopping.....when I was doing that a good technique was to find a nice thick aluminum nail or one with a good sized head. When you are done cabbing hold the stone with a rag that has been wet with cool water; then heat the nail which conducts the heat quickly to the epoxy. The excess heat destroys the epoxies bond and it'll release easily. The rag has kept your stone cool and safe from the heat and possible damage. When I did not have aluminum nails I would use a galvanized roofing nail which had a large head. I would first roughen the head for a better grip for the epoxy. .

Hi I’m new in the kimberlite market on eBay only heard they of kimberlite and it’s rare ability to hold diamonds from within the earth about a month ago. I have since realized that I have rocks of those nature in my collection. Once jokingly placing a crystal in the palm of my girlfriends hand and laughing saying here’s a diamond it’s your best friend and I tossed it on the ground it was a nice sized one. Now I find out it’s not a joke at all and I have diamonds. Funny thing is out of all the treasure hunting I do the rock hound areas I’ve been visiting there are two kimberlite clay pipes and licks me they both contain diamonds. One being known for rock hounding in California and the other being a secret of mine in AZ is loaded with diamonds.
on eBay I have a discounted deeply the items of kimberlite and Kimberlite clay from the top of the pipe it shot out of and all with diamonds so please today the 26th of March is the last day I’ll be discounting the rare and expensive kimberlite products up to 4400%-1900- market value so if it’s not to much of a hassle to mention it to your family friends and rock hounding partners to glance at my eBay page I’m the only low price on there I’m in a crisis of needing a probate wills and trusts lawyer ASAP and can use some support by fellow hounding members and treasure hunters.
i have diamonds many many many diamonds and even huge rough uncut white diamonds heavy ones up to 347ct multiples of them I found in a pocket and I need a price on them and if any one can do so I’ll part with one for future services in advanced payment like deal I have tons of kimberlite for sale and auction I sell out faster than I can post. I need the masses to see them I have over 7-12 types all barring diamonds from black to white clear to yellow to orange to grey to milky to red to green all of the above iv found in this kimberlite clay and kimberlite rocks I’m looking to trade for a rock crusher I’d like to get one ASAP.
