I know junior had some faceted rutile at the open house last year.
Anyone know who did his faceting? I've got some junkier rutile I wanted to play with and wondered what sort of designs were used....obviously refractive indices are not a concern...

Sue, I did not see the faceted rutile that Junior had at the open house, but I would think that faceting roses(like cabochons with faceted tops) would be suitable and could perhaps provide a greater yield from your stones. I can recommend this because optical properties are not a concern in this case. If you cut them in standard cab sizes, you could then use fabricated settings for the stones. Cutting the roses could be done using the crown designs of most any stones or you could go at it with your imagination. Hope this helps. Mickey

Find a crown you like and cut that. Grind a flat on the bottom and use a 600-2000 as a 'finish'. Dop, and cut the crown starting with the girdle (note that fancy pavilions that make the girdle in steps may be a little hard to interpret). Cut the design down to the edge, or transfer it and cut the reverse first facets as a meet for a new girdle.
I forget, did you do the GemCad class at FFF4? If you did, remember how to do a new pavilion and crown from 2 designs? You can make a step by step doing that.
Your big warning, cutting rutile and pyrites is a huge, black mess on the laps and in the bowl.

Hi I’m new in the kimberlite market on eBay only heard they of kimberlite and it’s rare ability to hold diamonds from within the earth about a month ago. I have since realized that I have rocks of those nature in my collection. Once jokingly placing a crystal in the palm of my girlfriends hand and laughing saying here’s a diamond it’s your best friend and I tossed it on the ground it was a nice sized one. Now I find out it’s not a joke at all and I have diamonds. Funny thing is out of all the treasure hunting I do the rock hound areas I’ve been visiting there are two kimberlite clay pipes and licks me they both contain diamonds. One being known for rock hounding in California and the other being a secret of mine in AZ is loaded with diamonds.

i have diamonds many many many diamonds and even huge rough uncut white diamonds heavy ones up to 347ct multiples of them I found in a pocket and I need a price on them and if any one can do so I’ll part with one for future services in advanced payment like deal I have tons of kimberlite for sale and auction I sell out faster than I can post.
