I took two trips to the Ray in July. These pics are a combination of both trips. Sorry no on site photos this time either. Both trips were made during the hottest July ever in my book. Spending a full day at the Ray in that heat with the biting insects was both misery and great enjoyment constantly. I took mostly pics of things I feel can be unusual for the Ray. The first six pictures are of the largest vug I have found there. Someone else had unearthed this piece and I would not have given it a look had the rain not cleaned it out. It was about 2''x2'' and unfortunately the top came off while I was trimming the 15 pounder down to good size. The first four pics are the main part with some gemmy mica books, feldspar crystal (possibly Albite), crude quartz crystals, thulite (hard to see, pic 5 shows it best), light Amazonite, and tiny crystals at top (probably also feldspar). Pics 5 and 6 are the part of the vug that flew off, mostly mica crystals stacked on top of each other. Pics 10-13 are quartz crystal that I found in one rock. It was solid quartz on one side and solid feldspar on the other, and where they met were about 40 oddly shaped quartz crystals. I broke most of them getting them out, very fragile. Pic 12 looks a lot like grey corundum with the diamond shaped striation lines on the face. Hope you enjoy

14-30 pounder that I carried down some how. my pack weighed 75 lbs when I got it home, and its only rated to carry around 50lbs. Glad it didn't break.
