Can we expect to see some of these up close and personal at the roundup?

Well, Dave, that's kindof up in the air this year. Usually, I can co-ordinate vacation time with my partner, but I've got about 10 days off between now and the Round-Up, so and since, as Lee says, work is not yet a novelty, that's where I'll probably be the first week of August. BUT, it Reely goes with out saying where I'll be Friday August 5th, and hope to make it up to the Big Party for the last Saturday and Sunday. Great job as usual on the pics and report, Scott. Thanks for those mindat links, too. Joe

They're perfect for in close around the crystals, Ray. Sturdy but won't scratch the glass. Joe

Gotta hand it to you, Ray. Those PVC wedges are great. The ones you gave me have held up through some rigorous use, and have been a great help in the extraction of many perfectly intact crystals.

Ha! I loaned them to several people. I got totally exhausted just watching them use those things.

Scott:
Thanks for sharing your dig with us. It's great to hear of rock hounding trips and seeing material found by our club member. Good job digging Joe. I agree, the PVC tools are the best for crystal removal.

Thanks Ray, and I agree, they work much better and are way tougher than I would have thought.
Plus if I break one I know Steve has a completely undamaged set I can get.

I am glad to see more people realize that it is better to use an instrument made of PVC to remove crystals than to use a metal device such as a screwdriver. A whole lot less damage occurs to the crystals when the PVC is used.

If my PVC wedges ever go missing, I know right where to find them. I'm pretty sure they'll end up in the back of "Romare's" truck, right next to my missing Arkansas pry bar, the folding rocking chair I haven't seen in about two years, and a few other assorted tools that have vanished over time. I'm okay with that, though. At least I know where they are. If they were in the back of my truck, I'd probably never find them again.
