Welcome, Dave! Don't let the bossman see you on this board. If he realizes you hang out with this crazy group of rockhounds, he'll probably send you to a professional counselor. Not that there's anything wrong with that....

My experience so far with this crazy group is I have had to have counseling. Some has been unsolicited and some solicited.

Welcome, lazydave. Limestone is good, if you know where to look. Around 'noogatown, one can occasionally find pyrite cubes in limestone, calcite, purple fluorite, fossiliferous, and beautiful banded browns/purple,not quite marble, yet a crush above road gravel.

Even in Mid Tn you can find very small calcite in new road cuts and if your lucky small very clear selenite blades. My favorite is Tennessee Paint Rock, which is almost impossible to gain access to locations anymore, due to irresponsible people. seems to be a trend lately. I have dug fluorite and barite over near sweatwater. Of course there is Elmwood, good luck getting in.

Hey Rockshine are you a 'nooga-native? I'm new to this rockhounding thing and live in Chattanooga. Maybe you can help me find more than the occasional crinoid or fern fossel.
