Hello,Im new to the Group and new to Rock Hounding but I can do it all day long! I have some really neat things....I may be a "Natural" or a Natural Disaster!!!!!! Im Montana in Colorado and have been racking my Brain,my computer and ruining my Brain cells and eyes trying to read and study!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yuk! I need help with these Rocks...I have some really neat and colorful stuff........and I do know I have lots of Black Obsidian...but I also have found green snowflake etc. Help? I Think These rocks may be a real Geological find? I can send more pics on request! Attachments:

What environment did they come from? They very much look to be a vitreous slag from a blast furnace. I picked up a lot of that when I was a kid in AL from the railroad rights of way.

Doesa obsidian have pores and vacuoles like that?

not an expert by no means, but conchoidal fracture patters are evident - judging from the outer layer of rock, i would be inclined to say some sort of chert/agate?

That looks like it could go either way from the photos. Where did you find it? That color and texture. Sure looks like iron slag.
