Howdy, My name is Jackie and I've been doing some rockhounding with my husband and children (11 and 9) We have been just local, nothing awesome to report yet. We went to a place called 10 acre rock, that is a massively huge piece of granite, the story is that some of the granite for the state capitol building was quarried there back in 1911 or so. If anyone knows of some interesting places to go in my neck of the woods, I'd be glad to have that information. Thanks for such a great site!

Hi Newbie. I'm new to this board too. My advice is to find a rockhound club near where you live and become an active member. They will be able to take you on fieldtrips to interesting locations . Your kids could even become junior members. It's a good starting point.

Welcome Jackie. Don't know much about your area, except if you are toward the ozarks,,something is bound to turn up. Rock on, shine on, dig on.
