Looks like chalcedony to me, which is commonly associated with corundum areas in WNC. Please read the postings on resizing your photos, as larger files do not mean better pictures on the board. Generally, the smallest size is best: compare some of the other postings where the file size is 50KB with your 533KB and see how much clearer they are when enlarged. Ditto for the corundum? postings. There is a good possibility for corundum in the Clyde area as Heywood county is full of known occurences of spectacular minerals. Unfortunately, a lot of the land in the county is now owned by rich folks who come to the mountains to live and cut down the trees so they can enjoy the view of the trees and complain of other people cutting down the trees they enjoy viewing.
