Aw, heck, Mickey. Anybody can balance rocks. You're one of the only people I know of that can actually juggle them!

I've got a whole crew of friends here locally who have been doing the rock balancing thang for at least thirty years. Usually in creeks and combined with beer drinking and much laughter. It is great fun!

I've seen those rock-stacks everywhere from the Wilson Gorge to the creek on my buddy's property (assembled illegally by trespassers, but cool nonetheless).

I could imagine someone getting really hurt badly by those things. I mean they're basically set traps that could fall on some child or dog and hurt them badly, so I could see why people might get upset apart from being assembled on private property. It does seem like something fun to try though. Some of those stacks in those pictures seem impossible. They must have lots of patience.

Lawrence,
Your buddy doesn't have property in SW VA does he? If so, I know the culprits!
We have a local swimming hole that we visit, and between swimming and fishing, a few rock towers are constructed... tons of fun!

Sorry Drew, didn't see your post until now.
My buddy actually owns 1,700 acres near Leicester, NC. I actually got into mineral collecting because a friend of mine found a huge chunk of kyanite in a creek while we were hiking on his land.
It was all over from there.
