Some slabs from the last few months. There's more to rocks than 'just' crystals! The only personal find is this first one, NC Spherulitic Rhyolite Horse Creek Chert from Tennessee Blue Mtn Jasper from Oregon, (low grade) From the same area, some so-so Willow Creek Jasper, Kona Dolomite, Michigan, (not Hawaii) Apache Jasper, out west somewhere, Lastly, I don't know what to call this stuff but it's from out west somewhere, too Thanks for looking, Joe

Nice slabs. Is the Horse Creek any relation to Horse Mountain west of the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee? Back in the eighties Horse Mountain agate was a hot item due to the iris effect when backlit in ultrathin slabs.

Glad you enjoy the pics. Yeah, Ron, I'm going to have to look into that last one. I cut it for someone else and don't have any, but am now more curious about it. It was such mixed up stuff, at the time I was happy to call it Jasper. ;D Rockshine, Yes I believe that's the general vicinity for the Horse Creek. I was told it was found in several creeks and rivers in south-central Tennessee, but don't know any names or extent of area where it's found. To me, this is pretty rare or hard-to-come-by material. As far as I know the nodules are only found as float in the creek and river beds of this area. The agate you mentioned and this chert would be or are still pretty Hot Items in my book! I would love to see some of that agate and the iris effect. Now get out there and find us some! Joe

Nice work dude! I really like the first one also. The Sulphurr...sulferilli...sulpheruiol...ravioli... errr I like the Rhyolite. Anyways, I know I owe you a pyrite package, but Im gonna check out flint ridge ohio here in the next few weeks before the yankee soil freezes. If I grab you a bunch o' purty flint, would you cut me a slab?

Well, Good Luck on your trip to Flint Ridge, Ryan. Take lots of pics of the rock in the ground for us to see and I'm sure we can work out something about getting some slabbed for you. Joe
