This is a photo of some pieces of Chlorophane Fluorite thermoluminesceing after heating. It also luminesces white/pale green and phosfluoresces under short wave lamp. It will even phosfluoresce for after exposure to a table lamp. Attachments:

Here's another photo of what the Chlorophane looks like in natural light. Sorry, I haven't mastered attaching multiple photos in one post. Attachments:

I assume that's from the now-being-developed site near Old Mine Park?

Hahahahaha, I see "cooking" has been added to list of things MAGMA members do with their rocks. Perhaps Rick's next book can be "Recipes for Rockhounds" Marble Marsala, Beryl Bordelaise, and Kyanite Courdon Bleu! :-D In all seriousness, that is really cool. How long does the thermoluminescence last? I heard someone found that stuff at the Ray once.

I assume that's from the now-being-developed site near Old Mine Park? Yes, that's where it came from. It's now a soon to be open for bussiness Home Depot. I didn't mention the location because police are patroling the site now and absolutely don't want anyone there. Earlier in the construction the contractor didn't seem to mind us there.

I had a piece on my nightstand under a reading lamp for about thirty minutes while I was reading one night. When I got up to get a drink four or five hours later it was still glowing on the nightstand. Up until then I didn't realize that even sunlight or a common table lamp would make it phosfluoresce. Pretty strange stuff.
