Hello All, My name is Joy and I live in Ohio. I am a native Californian from Modesto and have rock hounded in CA, AZ, NV, and OR. Not much rock collecting to be done here in Ohio although I do find fluorite and flint from time to time in addition to some crystal filled "geodes". I also do lapidary work as a hobby and enjoy about any pretty rock there is. I particularly like rock from the West and Southwest. I rarely cut imported materials although I think many are pretty too. nice to meet everyone and I hope someone here can help me with a question about an older used Raytech Gem Grabber I have. I am not sure how to hook the water supply to it. Thanks! Joy

Welcome Joy, I'm near you in Indiana, and yes there isn't much around the area for collecting. Hope you enjoy the site.

Welcome Joy. To the best of my recollection, some American rock collectors from several hundred years ago found that Ohio flint was quite desirable to their cousins living in my neck of the woods, and apparently carried on a lively trade bringing it south for knapping. Happy rocking wherever you may be although a rockshop owner in the Atlanta area told me brusquely a few years ago that there wasn't a **** rock worth picking up east of the Mississippi. Needless to say, I never again found any reason to enter her shop.
