went out to relax, get some exercise take a nice long hike up and down the sides of mountains, do some scouting, and find some beryl this past weekend. after walking about three miles and finding a couple of old prospect pits and not finding anything i headed back towards were i started from. As i walked through the mountain laurel and across the top of the mountain i passed numerous rocks lying on the ground i turned several over and found nothing. i continued heading back to my vehicle and turned over one more rock this one i had success and could see what i thought was several beryls on trhe back side so i carefully removed them. i got them home and cleaned them in iron out and after several cleansings they all have a waxy feeling to them. they are deep green the pictures do not do justice for them. i found these on the southern side of long hill in haddam ct if anyone is wondering where they came from. i will be going back soon to see if i can find the pegmatite which they are from, there was a tyree with some more rock formations underneath it just 2 feet away unfortunately i didn't have enough time for further investigation but this weekend looks good.
