I just found this forum and hope you can help me identify this rock. Hopefully I have attached the photo correctly but I am not seeing how to add the photo of the exterior of the rock. Thanks for any help Laura Attachments:

A closer look, it might be a calcite.....by the smooth sides. As above, a location might be helpfull

Thanks for the ideas... I do not know where the rock was found. My parents were avid rockhounds and did most of their traveling in Oregon, Colorado and the west coast in general but covered most of the USA so it really could have come from anywhere. I hope I have attached a photo of the exterior of the rock segment here: Laura Attachments:

Looks like calcite to me.
