Picked out a blackish rock with some green in it out of a pile of unknowns to see what it looked like after I polished & came up with these. The smaller one broke off the top of the larger one. Can anyone tell me, please what it might be? The black matrix was soft & the green fairly hard. Thanks - Donnie Attachments:

Thank you very much! That was a very nice bracelet! I though perhaps that was what it was judging from the color & the way it felt when I was polishing it. It may be low grade emerald but it is still pretty. To tell you the truth I think that it has more character than the higher facet grade emerald. Donnie

Donnie, I found some similar while sluicing at a mine in North Carolina. The emeralds were in a black matrix which was softer. I have tumbled a few. Yours look like a larger piece but otherwise they look the same. Tanya
