Hi all I'm a long time avid rockhound from Wyoming, a hobby I picked up from my father and grandfather, and am now passing on to my son. Jade is my primary interest, but I'll rockhound for just about anything, and I have a pretty large and varied collection of material. I have all the equipment to do my own slabbing, cabbing, tumbling and polishing. Looking forward to participating in the forum here... Any other Wyoming rockhounds?

Howdy Mike. Welcome to Dirty Rockhounds. Leap right in. I believe you might be the first Wyoming member that I am aware of. Please post some images of some of your jade when you have time. Is your collection all from the western US?

Most of my collection is Wyoming material, but I have stuff from all over the US and different parts of the world. Fortuneately, Wyoming has a vast array of different material to collect, I think a person could spend years collecting here and not get a sample of every different material...it's a rockhound paradise...

Welcome Mike.
Just moved out to Colorado myself, planning on going on a trip up to Wyoming with the local rockhound group soon. Need the weather to cooperate though.

Excellent...if the weather cooperates, you won't be dissapointed...what kind of material is your group looking for?

I think we are headed to Shirley Basin (correct me if I misspelled anything) to look for agate. It's all new to this South Carolina boy.

That's some nice material. I'll have to mention Jeffery City as a possible destination at some point.

Yeah, I would definately recommend that as the #1 destination...and more scenic than Shirley Basin to boot.... I'd be happy to provide your club with detailed directions to the site...
