Going to Alaska on a cruise and land tour. Stops in Ketchican, Juneau, and Skagway. Land tour to Denali National Park and Mount McKinley Lodge. Probably more time to look around in Danali and Mt Mckinley. Anyone have any suggestions for surface collecting such as agate, pertified wood, or jasper?

I've lived in Kodiak and Cordova and I can say that Skagway should have some great "window" shopping for Garnets. Are you driving to Denali or taking the bus? Most of the river beds should be pretty promising. There is so much volcanic history up there. There is NO collecting in Denali and we filled our backpack with beer (allowed)for the bus ride into the park. Juneau does have some real gold panning for tourists, but as usual some are salted. The jade market is alive and well in town and some deals can be made.
