Hey all, was invited over here by Ken the knife smith, as a good place to find out what's happening in North Cackalackee. Looks like a good forum and that y'all have a lot going on. I'm new to this hobby, and looking to meeting some of you and going hounding. Sounds like fun.
Anyway, thought I'd say hi!
My sig kind of shows a bit about me. Have had the nickname Chromenut for about 30 years now, had to do with one chrome nut on my 1966 AMC Marlin way back when. Now I'm deeply into my PT Cruiser ('06 convertible GT) and pumping out as much horsepower as possible out of it, plus runs on the track. Also into radio control planes (F4U Corsair being my favorite). Totally into computers, complete geek. Deeply into photography, the stones in my sig are part of my rough lot. Love wandering Lake Norman on my boat and fishing for bass. Lastly, getting involved in what looks to be an excellent hobby here with you all.
Anyway, have probably met a few of you over on Rock Tumbling Hobby's site. Looking forward to contributing where I can, learning what I can, and having fun.

Sounds like you and I are in similar boats or rafts maybe. I just visited Tomsopals today on east 7th street. The man has rocks. He's got some really good stuff worth checking out.
If you need a ride to Graves Mt, I will get you there if I go and it is looking like I will go. My car will haul your stuff as well as mine so that should not be an issue. I can make two trips if needed. I am as new or newer to this stuff as you but so far so good.
There are a good number of locals on here and NC is a prime spot for hounding so if you want to get into the hills and look for some pretty rocks, this is a great place to start. Maybe the only place?
I've been on rocktumbling's forum for about a year now with a considerable hiatus. Those folks know their stuff and they are more than generous with what they know. I highly recommend anyone here check them out.

Where is Tomsopals? I live up north of Charlotte on Lake Norman but work down by Southpark Mall, so pretty much cover from Southpark to Mooresville every day.
And I haven't had the free time to do any of the digs so far. Wish I could this weekend, but family activities (meaning wife says no)...lol
