Here are two front and back pics of two slabs of what I was told is called "Howardite". Now if you search for Howardite you will find a mineral from meteorites. This is not that. The way I heard it, it was an isolated find years ago somewhere in the southwest. It looks like a very colorful, agatized fine grained pet wood to me. I purposefully left the oak table top in the margin of the pics for comparison, (kind of). Any info, stories, or other news anyone knows about this material would be greatly apprecciated. Thanks for looking, Joe

Would like to get it in my hands for a better look but... My guess is Pet Wood Joe. And I'll trade my guess for door #2 cause I don't know... Jim

I love the volcanos with the steam rising out of them you should polish it and put it on display. Very nice.

Hey Pat , That's what I'll do. Polish those slabs and leave'em alone. I have a couple of small pieces I can cab. The only mention of this stuff I have been able to find is one cab on the "Great Cabochons" site. He calls it Howardite and says it comes from Virgin Valley. Other than that, nothing. I should've brought a piece to Lauries Open House yesterday to see if any of those Big Rock Dogs recognized it. But I have yet to talk to any one that has heard of it before. Joe
