Hi Tom. I went to a little road side place called Gem Mountain. Thay have a web address to it is www.gemmountain.com. I came back with a fist full of them to. I need to have the rest cut. It took them 11 weeks to get that one back to me and the Topaz to. If you know of a stone cutter that dose good work and is a little faster let me know. Thank you. That Emerald is 7mm * 5.1mm.

There are stone cutters on this site. I'm sure one of them will respond to you! Good luck!

David,
No offense here, but the assumption would be that the emerald you found at Gem Mountain is not from Mitchell County, nor North Carolina, nor the United States. Most likely it is from Brazil.

Hey david, sweet stone. What is the weight? That emerald came from the same place your blue topaz came from which is a dead give away. Pretty much the only places where natural blue topaz is found consistantly are Russia and Texas with a smattering of other places very very rarely. 99.9% of all blue topaz is irridated colorless topaz and the number 1 location for irridated blue topaz is Brazil. Which with an almost 95% certainty is the location your emerald came from. Please refer to Ed Speer's site www.northcarolinaemeralds.info/ for all the info about emerald locations in North carolina old and new..

Some places are so shady Make you think your digging local minerals, lol . I went to a place in NC once and they would just throw the Brazilian(or wherever this non-native stuff was from) into the creek beds and the worst things is that they tell people its native. Thats just plain out lying. They will get whats coming to them, karma always comes through in the end PS. If they are really getting emeralds that size, quality and quantity from NC they would be very valuable and I seriously doubt they would be open to the public.

Amethystguy, Thank you! I do not know it's weight. It did come from the same place as the emerald. It was clear. We had it treated at the same time it was cut. We are not going to sell it so there was not reason to disclose that it had been irridated. It is at the jewlers right now being mounted. When it gets back any day now I can mike it and let you know it's size. Thank you for the web sight page info.
