I have some pyroxmangite for sale. $30 + shipping per flat rate box Price reduced to $25 plus $10 shipping! You will get at least 25 pounds in the box and shipping is under $10, I forgot what the post office charges these days. . Trades are accepted too, I'm always looking for rough or slabs to cut. I also have other stuff for sale, Sowbelly Agate, Desert Scene Jasper and specimen grade petrified wood. PM me for details. Locally everyone calls this rhodonite because it is almost the same thing. Rhodonite is MnSiO2 and Pyroxmangite is MnSiO3. They are both manganese silicates, pyroxmangite got the name becuse it is in the pyroxene group with manganese and Rhodonite means rose-stone in latin. Here is some information about pyroxmangite: www.mindat.org/min-3327.htmlI think this stuff is more like a 6.5 because of the high silica content, it polishes to a glass like sheen. Here are some cabs and specimens my wife and I polished. These are really big by the way, the calibrated cab is a 30x40 mm. Notice the windowed rock, the rough will look like this but without the window. ;D Here is a big piece I polished, probably 5 pounds or more.

Here is some information about the Sunnyside Mine where this rough is from. Notice the long list of minerals found there, many of them can be found as inclusions in the pyroxmangite. www.mindat.org/loc-3687.htmlHere is a pic of the rough pile... If you are into metal specimens, let me know, some of the material has loads of galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, etc...

Thanks! I'm practically giving the stuff away, it can go for quite a lot at the big shows and it is pretty rare.

Hey everybody! I haven't been around here for a while as I have been busy with our one month old daughter and full time knifemaking. It is getting warm here and the snow is melting off! I'll have to start a new Pyrox thread soon as well as do a ton of exploring and collecting!
I have spent the last two summers looking for a rare variety of jasper in the local desert and am looking forward to a great summer! LOL I have 5# so far!!!

Hay dude Miss seeing ya . Welcome back !!! I am really into things already, been for amey, septarian, amozonite already. Planning a great trip to the sowbelly injune or July and have all the cabins reserved. Will send one day there and the next at the thunder eggs about 30 miles away some are 1ft diameter.
