client who knew I was into rockhounding brought this in to show me a couple weeks ago, hoping I could ID it. She found it here in town (Gainesville GA) - but since was at my office could not test it. Any ideas going just from rough pics?

Maybe, but pic 1 also kind of looks like green quartz from Brasil.

Well, I was going to agree with Aventurine, , but now let me be the first to suggest it. Gsellis, Isn't any grainy, "quartzite-like" green quartz called Aventurine? With a loupe you should be able to see little flakes of mica in it that help to give it the sparkle. This piece does look like something that came from a salted bucket of material somewhere. And like any other rock you will find all grades of it. Here is a pic of a piece of light green vein that was found where they were digging a house foundation locally. So I guess it could've been found locally. Either way, I would call it aventurine.

Just like I said before and to retierste what Joe said it looks just like something you would get out of the $5 bucket at Bill's Stop and Go Gem Sluice on 441. Try to get a exact locale, james. It also does look somewhat like beryl like mark said. I have some greenish blue that looks very similar

exact location ..... less than one mile, or thereabouts, from where I had found the epidote and what we suspect is a piece of aquamarine. She found it in her backyard after a rain, seems to be rather attached to it. I checked out some pics of aventurine, does resemble it - but never heard of that found in this area.
