I just noticed a few of my purple/pink sapphires from Montana have a distinct red glow in LW UV. These are untreated stones, 0.4-0.6ct

Cool, I didn't know saphires would glow. Great pics.

I have a few small blue saphires from Mason's and they also fluoresce pink under 365 long wave.

I have a few small blue saphires from Mason's and they also fluoresce pink under 365 long wave. How interesting! Someday I'll visit that mine. So far, I have not seen blue Montana sapphire fluoresce. Perhaps there's some chromium in that blue? I have one cut blue that's slightly red under LWUV. This might explain why the blue leans towards purple.
