Hi everyone..First off I want to thank EVERYONE one this site. I am a newbi rockhound and the information on this site is invaluable. This all started with wanting to teach my son a little about the outdoors and it has fast become my favorite pasttime. .. Anyway...I found these by my home, just layin on the ground..some of them In the ground. It looks like Quartz with some iron staining(sorry I don't know terminology) ..The thing is that i'm surprised at how much there is out there. it's every where. Is this a clue to a possible better find? I have been told it is but...i just don't know enough to know if that is true. Thank you for any help that can be given. Peace to all Don www.flickr.com/photos/socalwoodworker/

"The thing is that i'm surprised at how much there is out there. it's every where. The actinolite has a nice color! Very distinctive crystal structure too.

I went out "playin" in my backyard...now the group of pics linked to abouv has a couple of pics of boulders around where these quartz rocks were found and I started beating on those boulders and they sounded COMPLEATLY HOLLOW!! huh? so I started breaking away the layers...almost like an onion. found a small dime size quarts crystal in one layer.. Don't know what this all means but This is really FUN!!!
PEACE
