If it is foliated, can't tell from photo, then mica schist would be a good guess.

That looks like granite to me. Just go into your local kitchen cabinet shop, and pick out a granite pallate, and the colors will match!

interesting,there are no known occurances of granite in my area. I was thinking almandine garnet in mica schist,but I am new to this....

Looks like a quartz foliation from a garnet schist.. but man that sucker is loaded with garnets.
