Howdy folks, Well, I think I'm finally getting the feel for flint now. Way harder to work than the obsidian I had out in California but way more forgiving too. Took me awhile to get the hang of the Ishi Stick pressure flaker but man, it really makes the job so much easier. I finished these yesterday and today and they took maybe 20 minutes each. Shaped them with percussion flaking and finished with pressure flaking. I think the heart shaped tan one is gonna wind up on a new bola tie for yours truly. Thanks for looking....Mel These are all about 2" long: These two started as a big knife which I screwed up by dropping on the concrete floor of my shop after I whacked my thumb with the big bopper. Larger point is about 3" long and is double convex in cross section so I propped it up with a piece of paper so I could get a good pic.

Great job, Mel! You're knocking them out now! I like the one propped-up with the paper and the heart shaped one ought to make a great bola tie. It looks like the lighter tan-colored material works a little better than the darker stuff?
