I was looking at another thread, with references to that australian wave rock formation, and then another picture of a wave formation out west, and thinking that I would like to go and visit such enormously beautiful places, when it happened! I was driving along I-40 going East from Asheville, and since traffic was stopped from a small fender bender, I had plenty of time to look around. Well, there, on the left side of the highway, was a HUGE roadcut, right by the continental divide on the steep slopes of the mountain road as it crosses the Appalachians, being the whole top of the mountain for hundreds of yards! There it was, our very own WAVE. The rocks bend like blankets tossed over a chair, in layer upon layer, exactly as the wave does out west. And the whole formation is HUGE. Best part is that you don't have to go overseas to see it, it's right there, and right by the road. I will take some pics the next time I am out that way!
Love and Light, Tom.
