I purchased my home here in Bayleaf, North Raleigh, in 1982. Behind the house, in the woods, I came across this great find. I assume that it is from an an old soapstone quarry about 2.5 miles north of here, that Indians worked many moons ago. Also, I believe this next piece, is part of some kind of bowl that may have had either a handle grasp, or maybe 1 of maybe three legs incorporated into the carving. I found this on the lake shore, that is another mile or so from the same quarry.

Actually, this is where water has been sitting in the bowl, in the back yard. Sometimes, birds and my small dog get a drink out of it.
