Howdy folks,
Had these posted at another forum and thought ya'll might like a look at them too. I had a lot of rancher friends when I worked for the Ag. Dept. in California and had the opportunity to do a bit of collecting on pvt property.. Thanks for looking....Mel
A frame of smaller projectile points from all over Calif, Oregon, and Nevada.
Some large pieces, mainly knives from NE Calif. The arrowhead shaped piece is 4+ inches long and flat and smooth on the back and looks like it was worn as a huge pendant.
Points and knives from Lake Miwok territory near Clear Lake, CA. Barely got to check out this area before I had to move to take a job. Found points in almost every screenfull of dirt at this site. never seen anything like that since. Many of these have nasty serrations.
Various oddballs: A big lance point from my dad's hunting trips, an agate crescent, and the two lower left pieces from right here where I live in Texas. Chipped one was found last week.
Some of these ( The white and green ones) I know to be paleo material as they come from my buddies cottenfields on ancient Lake Tulare which are full of paleo points as well as fossil bones. These are also covered by a heavy patina. The lower left obsidian dart point is from the Christmas Lake/Silverlake, Oregon area and the three top center to right are from the Miwok site but look to be very much older than the rest and of paleo form. The broken piece is my only Borax lake find from a walnut orchard where everything was chopped up by plowing.
