I am wondering if this is a "perfect" point? Of course, wondering what you think Joe and anybody else. Material/age/origin.... Thanks. Rebecca

Nice arrowhead there, Rebecca. Way to go! It looks whole to me. Can't say much else for sure, tho. Can't see the material well enough to distinguish between quartzite, chert, or rhyolite. And there's alot of difference in forms from say the mountains and the piedmont at that time period, but if you scroll down to one of colorshapetexures earlier threads called "Arrowhead found in Gastonia, NC" , I think there are similarities and would date yours about the same. Just a guess mind you. And pardon my cockiness on that other thread but I was enjoying the fact that it was found while playing golf. I used to love that game. Joe

Rebecca, that is a sweet find...
Enjoy digging in a state that will let you. Here in Oregon we can't even get to a lot of places because of snow in the hills and then if you can, there is probably a claim on the land! It's hard to legally find anything cool here in Oregon, and it's stupid to be a federal offense to pick up arrowheads etc. that you find here...

I think it is a perfect little knife blade because of the notches on the left side and the bottom. The flute is also on the left. Looking at your picture the right side of the blade would be the main or bottom cutting edge of the knife. Very nice Rebecca.

Imagine it attached to a wooden handle and you have a nice little cutting utensil. I have no idea what it's made of. I'd guess it is early/late archaic.

Good observation, Mark. It's definately a good thing to get different opinions about these things. Makes us think. Hope you're doing allright and maybe even thinking about joining us at the Reel! Joe
