Hello, my name is Dustin and I'm 14 years old. I found these rocks at the Ray Mica Mine, and think they're Beryl but not really sure. I was wondering if you could identify. I love to go rock hunting and know that it's for fun. After church every Sunday for the last six months me and my Dad go rock hunting all over Western North Carolina. Thank you for your time and can't wait to post another picture! Full size: birdonthemoon.com/new/dustinsberyl.jpg

It looks like Golden Beryl and the Ray Mine is known for this.

Yup that's Beryl. Great finds. Keep up the great finds and pictures. I wish so much that I started collecting at your age.

;D Beautiful crystals. The Ray Mica Mine is known for the golden beryl, at first sight i also thought of tourmaline, however, the Ray mine usually has black tourmaline. therefore lets go with the beryl ID.

Ya know pete there will be a bunch of new folks at the hogg this weekend I will have to pull the old " naw thats nuthin just a rock" routine as I watch where it gets thrown on the ground. The great Don Aldridge taught me that one with my finer points thrown in for good measure
