my 9 year old daughter likes to go rock & artifact hunting with me, was frustrated about not finding anything - so spent extra time teaching what to look for. She finds this sitting in a path I had just walked over!!! unfortunately no tip, but next to largest spear head I have ever found. Was at the museum 2 weeks ago, and they had one exactly like it in there - said it was 8000 years old. Anyways, thought I'd share - and be careful with kids - they learn fast, and then find all the good stuff!

Don't feel bad. Kids have the advantage of being closer to the ground so it aids them in finding more. Nothing to do with eye sight and old age, I keep telling myself that, anyway. Great find, now she will really be hooked.

Wow...yeah, my first reaction was the size of that spear point! We see nothing like this in my region of CA. What a great experience for you and her.

I can accept the eyesight bit, why my back hurts so much these days! That, and I was distracted by a purty shiny that turned out to be glass. BUT - I ain't lost it just yet, had found this a couple of weeks earlier - same type of stone and same size, different design - these have been rather large for the spear points in this area as well - in 30 years have not seen anything like these before. Hopefully Arrapaho can pitch in at some point on pinning these down.
