Interesting article. We have lived in Aslaka on two different occasions. Cordova and Kodiak. There is soo much going on on a daily basis that one could always associate it with another planet's actions. On the Correr River near Childs Glacier, the usual claving actually gets to a point where it might get monotinous and the calving from the upper ice cap is the big show. It's pretty rare, but memorable. The bottom line is that when you get away from everyone else, unique things are bound to happen.

That's true if you get away from everyone else unique things are bound to happen. Unfortunetely living on the east coast all my life I've never gotten to visit a truely isolated place.

Beth and I took a trip to Alaska a few years ago and the only thing to say is I WANT TO GO BACK!!! We were on a cruise so spent a limited time in several locations, just enough to whet my appetite for more. My only regret was being too late in the year for King Salmon fishing. I WOULD take another cruise, but this time it will be combined with some inland adventure like fishing and of course rocking.
