Scoop found this while we were digging at the Grimshaw Mine in the creek. Could it be a pottery shard?

Correction, it was at the Goodesville Mine creek in Jackson county

Hey DigDug, Yep, I'd say that looks like a piece of pottery. So now you have something else you can look for at Goodesville Mine. Where there's one...... And I'm going to nip this sherd/shard business in the bud. I believe either one is right. I call pottery or ceramic pieces sherds and glass pieces shards because shards sounds sharper. ;D Glad to hear you've been out hunting, Joe

Oh, I should have placed an object beside it, the item measures apprx. 3 x 4". It was a accidental lucky find while we were sifting for sapphires.

Instead of guessing I got the ruler out. It is 2.5" x 2.5" x 1/4"
I also want to give a shout out to Arappaho! I hope I speak for all here when I say we really appreciate you help and knowledge base with regard to identifying artifacts. I AM NOT taking away from others that have assisted, I just wanted to thank Arappaho for the assistance offered to me and Scoop.
