These pictures of Norbergite (yellow) and Diopside (blue) are taken in short wave light. The first is from Franklin, NJ. The second one is from the GTC Valentine mine in Harrisburg, NJ. It also has tiny blue spots of Diopside in it. Dennis

Didn't have a chance to say say hello to the board - just yet... lol There is no GTC Valentine mine in New Jersey. The GTC (Governeur Talc) mine is in Gouverneur, New york. No Norbergite comes from there. However Norbergite did come from Harrisville Quarry, just down the road (massive amounts too) and was operated by the same folks that operated the GTC mine. It just closed BTW. I've collected there many times until it was all closed to collectors. The Norbergite from The Franklin quarry below is probably the best and brightest examples found anywhere in the world. That quarry is once again being worked. It's less than a mile from the Sterling Hill mining museum of which I am a board member and help run the Super Dig each year. I do miss the collecting up north though.... West Pierrepont was considered the Franklin of the north for a long time before it was turned into a park. Found memories there !! Change your specimen label for the Harrisville Quarry piece That was a fun place too. They would place a truck load of blue calcite at the front gates for the towns folk to collect for free each month or so. Going to the Superdig in Sterling this month? maybe I'll meet you there.... Cheers!!!

Thanks for the posts and information, always nice to learn more about materials and locations. Outerealm hope it was productive and good time at the dig this spring. I won't make it to Franklin or Sterling Hill this year I have to stay in the west. Look forward to continuing my learning and playing in that area next year....wonderfully fascinating there. Thanks for your work on the board at Sterling Hill as well.
