Hi all! I'm excited that a jewelry and gemstones sub-board got started on here! As much as I love rocks and minerals, I'm equally as interested in gemstones and jewelry making. For everyone that makes jewelry here, I've came across a couple websites that you all may be interested in. The first is a site called DeviantArt, and it is an online art gallery of sorts that features all kinds of art-- photography, drawing, painting, digital art, and artisan crafts like jewelry-making and basket-making. I have an account that I've maintained for years now, and it is great. I've had the opportunity to talk technique with lots of artists, and it has been very beneficial to my jewelry making. The address is www.deviantart.com for those of you interested in showing off your work. It's free to sign up, so that's a plus. The other site I stumbled across is called MetalWorkers.org. Its devoted just to wire wrapped jewelry, and some of the work I've seen on the site is pretty amazing... lots of rare gems in some of the most detailed wire work I've ever seen. They also have a marketplace to sell or buy wire wrapped jewelry. The address for it is www.metalworkers.org/ Personally, I like to see how creative people can be with gemstones. If you're interested, my personal DeviantArt page is synthfaery17.deviantart.com Hope you enjoy the sites as much as I do! ;D

Thanks for the links!
Wow, the artists on metalworkers first page that do the woven pieces are just amazing! And I really like that they allow you to click again on the pics to get a closer view of the artwork detail.

Yes, those woven pieces are crazy good... I'm too chicken to try one done that way.

I think I am going to give them a go, only, I will practice with faux stones and use copper wire. Wish you could protect copper from turning, I think it goes really well with some stones. I know you could paint it with clear nail polish but, I don't want to sell a piece to someone and then have it eventually peel.
