Thanks Rick for setting up this board for us to talk about our artifacts and to post pictures of our material. I hope we can spark some interest in posting pictures of Indian and civil war artifacts. Now that we have the board, let's all start contributing posts about our finds. Lee PS: Here are a couple of example of the material I have collected over the years. It is interesting to note the different materials used by the Indians to make these tools. Arrow Heads and Spear Heads Found Near My House Bird Pipe Found in Field Near My House

Lee - you have a very good collection. I love artifacts, that is how I got started as a kid! Seminole artifacts.

Holy Cow, Lee! I don't know how I missed that Bird Stone/Pipe in previous browsings. I would love to see it sometime... And what kind of material is it made out of ? Limestone? Sandstone? Doesn't look like a soapstone but hard to tell from the picture. Almost looks like a Ham-Bone stone. Joe

Joe:
The "bird head" pipe is one of my prizes artifact pieces. I found it here in the neighborhood about 20 years ago right after a rain and in a plowed field. There is a factory building sitting right on top of the old site today. I'm not sure of what stone material it is made from but it is light weight and does have some of the feelings of sandstone. I will be glad to bring it on a field trip if I know you will be there. I plan on going to the Crabtree and Graves. Maybe we can see each other at one of these trips.
