Just my opinion, I think it is Hematite(possibly Specular) with some Pyrite.
Acid should do something to this if it is mostly iron oxide, try dripping it on the golden areas as pyrite will foam with acid.
I will try to post some photos of some Specular Hematite with some Pyrite that I have so you can compare.
Possibly high grade galena with some pyrite or gold sulfide.

I snapped a photo of some Hemitite I have collected. I have some galena around somewhere I will photograph.

THANKS BAMMER i am thinking about sawing it in half. no luck with the acid. but where i ground on it it looks like silver and same hardness as trying to scratch a silver coin. maybe i should have it analyzed ?what do you think?
