Announcing “RockHounds: The Movie” - Gem & Mineral Collecting is Showcased in the Ultimate “Rockumentary”
For Immediate Release
Dallas, TX - Explorer Multimedia Inc. digs a little deeper with the upcoming feature length documentary “RockHounds: The Movie.” The independent film will show the fun, adventure, wackiness and most importantly, the people involved in the hobby of gem & mineral collecting.
“We’ve met some great people since we started shooting this,” said the film’s director Todd Kent, “and I think the fun we’ve had comes through in the film.” Segments within the documentary include The World Championship Quartz Crystal Dig in Mount Ida, Arkansas, fossil hunting with “Dinosaur George” Blasing, an appearance of the “Rock Food Table” at the Houston Gem & Mineral Show, hunting for barite rose rocks in Oklahoma and more.
“Following these ‘treasure hunters’ as they dig brings a sense of adventure to the documentary,” said producer and geologist Devin Dennie, “ but we are also including an educational aspect.” Dennie hosts educational “mini-segments” throughout the film which were shot on location in one of the laboratories at the Department of Geology at the University of Oklahoma.
Post production on “RockHounds: The Movie” is scheduled to be completed in early Spring of 2005 when it will begin to tour on the film festival circuit. Additionally, the producers plan to make the film available to any interested gem & mineral organizations for exhibition at their gem & mineral shows.
Explorer Multimedia Inc., is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation and is responsible for the TV series “North Texas Explorer” and the upcoming “GeoAmerica.” For more information consult their websites: www.explorermultimedia.org and www.rockhoundsmovie.com .
