Here is an article about a snail that scientists found near the hot vents that has pyrite feet. (This is from a post of mindat.org) www.sciencenews.org/articles/20031108/fob1. Other organisms that have minerals in their bodies, Blood worms have atacamite in their teeth that allows them to bite through mollusk tissue. (If anyone has ever dealt with the boogers, as salt water bait, they know that their bite is PAINFUL!) Also, ancient gastropods had magnetite teeth which allowed them to drill into other organisms. Thought this sounded cool so I thought I'd cross post it... Drew
