Just found the site. Looks like fun. BTW- I'm not a geologist, and my name isn't Bob, but I have been referred by that before. You might call me a 7up rockhound. I like the harder crystals like quartz, topaz, garnet etc. I don't cut or polish. To me the allure of rockhounding is in the chase! I'm a trophy hunter..... Went to Crystal Park, MT last week and dug around for an afternoon. Did OK but nothing spectacular. A few years ago I found the perfect doubly terminated crystal as big as a tennis ball, smokey at one end and amythyst at the other. When I get bored my SO and I (she likes fossils and woods) will go to get petrified wood in Wyoming and Utah and some occasional geodes and agate...hmmm.....But those are just things to do till you can get into the high country......Gold? Fuggetaboutit- those people are crazy!

Welcome welcome ;D ;D ...Great stuff .....Can you post a pic of the smokey , amethyst ....I would love to see it ....sounds spectacular .....I look forward to hearing your trip reports , sounds like you have some great stories.....Thanks for stopping by and I hope you frequent often....
