Hello fellow miners ! My name is Mike and I live in Ramona, CA. You can tell from my well worn Eastwing and a few blisters from the digging bar that I been out digging holes, hundreds if not more. What a sweet place I live in. I can walk a hundred yards and dig up Spessartite garnets up to 20cts., smokey quartz crystals the largest being about the size of a 2 Liter bottle, hundreds of finger sized crystals, Schorl everywhere and my own spot with Verdelite Tourmaline exposed at the surface that we have yet to excavate. My partners and I formed our business Ramona Gem and Mineral about two years ago. A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to get myself a faceter it's an old 1948 MDR in mint condition. As far as machines go it lacks many necessary features found on todays modern machines but hey I'm not complaining one bit. It's a start and I got plenty of garnet and quartz rough to cut on. It's always a pleasure to meet other rockhounds interested in digging or even the casual "surface score" rockhounds so if your ever in the area look me up and I will show you the spots.
Rock licking is a good way to get your minerals ! Mike Fender Ramona Gem and Mineral
