Here are some pics of tools that I recovered at Cat Eye Cut...If they are yours let me know...and I will get them to you on a field-trip! First is a shovel...recovered from a spot that was away from the creek. Next is a screen that I believe a M.A.G.M.A member left during the July trip. Lastly is a really nice screen that I have fallen in love with...also recovered away from the creek. P.S. I really do believe that a lost and found board is a good idea!

Dinodude.....I think it is great that you are posting the lost tools you've found while you're out and about. I'm sure the people who lost those things didn't intend to leave them there, and will be grateful to get them back. And, of course, if no one claims them, they become yours!
I think your idea of a lost and found is a great one. In another plug for MAGMA being a great group of folks, it's nice to have someone honest trying to reunite lost tools with their owner.
After originally buying Rick's guidebook, the third place I visited was the Little Pine Garnet Mine. I was woefully unprepared equipment-wise....but I ran into a MAGMA member inside the mine. He showed me how to work the walls to get large garnets out safely...then had to leave. He had never met me before, but he offered to let me borrow his tools. He gave me his home phone number and told me to give him a call when I was driving through Asheville that night and he'd meet me to get his tools back. Needless to say, that made quite an impression on me. So it is nice to see a guy your age with such integrity joining the group.

I can personally vouch that being a M.A.G.M.A. member can save your tool's butt. I left my Estwing rockpick, now granted I can always get a new one, but they are somewhat pricy and that particular pick had seen the likes of all over NC, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, California, Arizona, my point is its a personal treasure, that pick has poked around in atleast 100 different locations.
Anyhow, I forgot the pick at the Grimshawe last year, I made a post about it on here. Low and behold, John Deney went to Grimshawe a few days later and ran into a guy from Montana. John mentioned about the pick and sure enough the guy had picked it up and saved it for me. Shows that there still are good people out there.
Thanks again John! and the guy from Montana, we spent the entire next day digging and chit chatting.
